Azaad Healing Justice Studio, LLC was founded in 2023 by Kulkiran Kaur Nakai, Psy.D., LP, (they/them) a queer Michigan-based licensed psychologist of color, who’s rooted in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor community. Their private practice is inherently political due to the traumatic nature of lived experiences from marginalized populations who are subjugated to systemic oppression and violence.
With great humility and reverence, Kulkiran acknowledges that they are a settler and that Azaad Healing Justice Studio, LLC is located on and benefits from the unceded land of the Anishinaabe (the original peoples) and the Three Fires Confederacy - the Ojibwe, the Odawa, and Potowatomi - as well as the Wyandot. Kulkiran honors and pays tribute to the Anishinaabe people who steward this land of the world's largest freshwater system located in the Huron River watershed.
Visit the NDN Collective to learn more about the LAND BACK Movement for Indigenous peoples, and Native Hope to support the end of human trafficking and murder of Indigenous femmes and 2-spirit peoples.
Azaad Healing Justice Studio, LLC operates within decolonial, anti-oppressive, intersectional feminist and abolitionist frameworks that center healing justice and collective liberation for the marginalized and disenfranchised on Turtle Island. Visit the FAQs page to learn more about these terms.
Kulkiran honors the generations of ancestors and elders who have survived to bring us all into existence. They also honor and give credit to the legacy, lineage, and labor from Black, Indigenous, and Brown communities, as well as the disabled community and the queer and trans+ community, who were and still are subjugated to colonial violence, and who also still generously share their teachings of wisdom for us all to live in a more liberated world.
May all indigenous and oppressed people experience rematriation, reparations, and healing justice. And so it is!
THE mission

THE vision
to collectively restore our divinity and sustainably rebuild our humanity within our own minds and bodies, within our families and local communities, and amongst greater society.
